All of these clinics are led by specially trained nurses in association with the doctors and usually only require an annual appointment.
 
Diabetes

As a patient you will be sent a form to have a fasting blood and urine test 2 weeks prior to attending the clinic. When you attend the clinic you will be seen by a nurse and a doctor.

Heart and Stroke

As a patient you will be sent a form to have a fasting blood test 2 weeks prior to attending the clinic. When you attend the clinic you will be seen by a nurse and a doctor.

Spirometry

Patients will be asked to bring in their inhalers and to perform breathing tests. The nurse will advise on further management.

Asthma

Patients will be asked to bring in their inhalers and to perform a peak flow test. The nurse will provide a full assessment and advise on further management.

Opportunistic Health Advice Services available

Smoking:
If you are a smoker and would like help to give up the habit, please call the Hertfordshire Smoking Cessation Service – telephone number: 0800 389 3998.
Our Health Care Assistant and Nurses provide Smoking Cessation Advice by appointment.

Blood Pressure Checks:
Are usually done by our health care assistant. This service is available to those not known to have high blood pressure, as well as those who do.

Flu vaccinations:
This annual vaccination is recommended for patients over the age of 65, Carers and those older than 6 months of age who have one of the following conditions:

bullet Chronic respiratory disease
bullet Chronic heart disease
bullet Chronic renal disease
bullet Diabetes mellitus
bullet Immuno-suppression owing to disease or treatment, including those with spleen problems

For Redbourn patients only you can attend the open Flu clinic in the Redbourn Village Hall on Tuesday 30th September 2.30 –5pm
